Call for Scores EstOvest Festival 2023

Hommage à Rachmaninov

Associazione EstOvest Festival Torino announces a Call for Scores dedicated to young composers of any nationality born after January 1st, 1988.

The Call for Scores EstOvest Festival 2023 will be dedicated to the Violin and Cello Duo. The composer who wins will be required to compose a piece for this duo. The piece will be performed during the Contemporary Cello Week 2023, a project by EstOvest Festival that will take place in Turin, Italy, from October 25th to October 30th, 2023.

The piece should be freely inspired by the lyricism typical of Sergej Rachmaminov‘s compositions. The incorporation of innovative compositional paths and stylistic choices which will have the effect of enhancing the two stringed instruments are expected of the composer who at the same time must take into account the significant and “weighty absence” of the piano, which was the privileged instrument of the great Russian composer and virtuoso.

The duration of the piece composed by the winning candidate has to be between 5 and 7 minutes.
